The film SunGanges was part of an investigation by a committee set up by the Supreme Court of India. The committee studied the role of indiscriminate dam building in the Ganges River Basin on the devastating floods of Uttarakhand. Footage taken in dire circumstances during the flood and before, led the committee and the court decide in scrapping 24 dams in the region. A truly remarkable feat for small independent filmmakers and kudos to the activists, investigators, researchers and the judicial system for taking the damning visuals into account.
